Goa Board Chairman, Shri J R Rebello has said that the scouts and guides possess self reliance, self discipline, cheerfulness and consideration for others and a sense of duty and of patriotism.
He said scouts and guides can do so much towards improving their own health and spreading health knowledge amongst others. Thus they can be of real use in building up happier and healthier generations
He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the awards distribution ceremony organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State at Institute Menezes Braganza hall in Panjim on April 15, 2014. 
Speaking further Shri Rebello said that the purpose of the Movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.

The awards presented on the occasion comprised of Bob-a-Job Highest Earnings Awards for Scouts and Guides for highest earnings at the district and state level fpr 2013-14. Adult Leaders of Ponda District, Pedne District and Quepem/Sanguem district were felicitated for meritorious long service in the organisation. Six cubs and 1 Cubmaster from Baby land Primary School-Candolim who attended National Level cub/Bulbul Utsav in Haryarna were presented with trophies and certificates.  In awards to District category, the Pernem district bagged the first place, Marmagoa the second place while  Ponda District shared the third place. One cub masters and four lady  Cub Master of Bardes , Salcete and Tiswadi districts who attended Basic Course for Cubmasters at National Training Centre, Pachmari, madhyaparadesh were also presented mementos and certificates.

“Tayyar” a newsletter of the Tiswasdi District was also released on the occasion at the hands of Shri Rebello in the presence of District Chief  Commissioner of Tiswadi Shri John Aguiar, Secretary Shri Durgadas Gaonkar and Shri Krishnanath Chopdekar.

State Chief Commissioner Shri P. R. Nadkarni,  said that this movement of Scouts and Guides aims at Character formation. Senior Vice President  Dr Sydney Pinto Do Rosario also spoke on the occasion. Vice President Shri R.G. Dessai,PRO Shri John Aguiar, STC(S) Shri Diogo Fernandes, STC (G) Elizabeth Mascarenhas , State Commissioner (Guides) Smt. Swati Malik, ASOC Shri Yeshwant Sinari and others also present. Earlier State Commissioner (S) Adv. Vinayak Narvenkar welcomed and introduced the Chief Guest. State Secretary, Shri   James Fernandes gave a brief report of activities and later Joint Secretary, Smt. Shoba Mhadgut proposed a vote of thanks.

The  Guides of  Our Lady of  Rosary H. School, Donapula and Chubby Cheeks, Pilerne presented  dance on the occasion.

DISCIPLINE ESSENTIAL TO SHAPE LIFE OF CHILD: DEPUTY CHIEF MINISTER


Deputy Chief Minister Shri Francisco D’Souza is speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the three day Patrol Leaders Camp of the Tiswadi District Bharat Scouts and Guides at Bal Bharati Vidhya Mandir, Ribandar on November 28, 2013. Tiswadi District Chief Commissioner Shri John Aguiar, Principal of Bal Bharati Vidhya Mandir, Smt. Suchitra Dessai, State Organizing Secretary Shri Krishnanath Chopdekar,  Jt Secretary (Tiswadi) Smt. Shoba Mhadgut, Scout Master Shri  Dattaram Shetkar, Secretary of Tiswadi Shri Durgadas Gaonkar  are also present. 


Deputy Chief Minister and  President  of  Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State inaugurated the three day Patrol Leaders Camp for Tiswadi District at the Bal Bharati Vidhya Mandir at Ribandar on November 28, 2013.
Speaking on the occasion Shri D’Souza highlighted the importance of the organization and said the training such as self reliance, development of leadership qualities, adventure training, and discipline is taught to the student’s right from the school days in the Scouts and Guides movement which is a very good thing. He urged the young scouts and guides to avail maximum benefits out of the training in the organization. Shri D’Souza stressed on the discipline aspect and said that it was essential to shape the life of the child.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Chief Commissioner Shri John Aguiar said that the scouts and Guides  is a voluntary, non-political, educational movement for young people, open to all without any distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose , principles and method conceived by the Founder Lord Baden Powell in 1907. The purpose of the movement he said, is to contribute to the development of  young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual as individuals, as responsible citizens .
Secretary of Tiswadi Shri Durgadas Gaonkar  in his welcome speech  gave a detail outline of the association.

120 patrol leaders from 10 school with 20 teachers of Tiswadi are participating in the training camp.

TEACH STUDENTS, WHY RECYCLING IS IMPORTANT: DY. CHIEF MINISTER



Deputy Chief Minister Adv. Francisco D’ Souza who is also the President of Bharat Scouts and guides-Goa State has said that in  order to conserve a clean beautiful earth to live in it is very important to begin teaching students at a young age the importance of recycling.  Students are like sponges and observe information well if they learn about it starting at their early childhood education and throughout their school years.
          Adv. D’Souza was speaking at the 27th Annual State Council Meeting of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Goa State which was held at the Association Headquarters in Panjim on July 27, 2013.
He said, we should teach students at an early age to know how to start recycling because they need to learn how to contribute to the Earth in which they live in. They need to grow up learning how to be responsible and clean citizens of their community and by teaching them so at an early age it will eventually help them out when they are adults for their future.
He advised to involve the young scouts and guides in the  Community Development activities such as sanitation drives, anti-smoking and anti-drug campaign, environment education, tree plantation, traffic control and others. He said most road fatalities are caused due to violation of traffic rules and therefore knowledge of traffic rules at a young age is very important.

During the meeting various issues were discussed which included the resolutions earlier taken at the State Council Meeting, the action taken report, a power point presentation highlighting the activities, workshops, events and achievements of the members during the year past year was presented by State Secretary Shri James Fernandes. The consideration and adoption of Budget proposal were also discussed. Speaking on the Occasion Vice President Dr. Rodney D’ Souza said that  scout and a girl guide is being taught to be disciplined in all aspects. Vice President Shri R. G. Dessai also spoke  on the occasion.
Awards for Highest Average increase percentage  census were presented to the Bicholim district followed by Mormugao district. The awards have been instituted by Shri R. G. Dessai.
State Chief Commissioner Shri Pandurang Nadkarni and SC(S) Adv. Vinayak Narvekar made some valuable suggestions on the occasion.
State Secretary Shri James Fernandes welcomed the gathering and conducted the business. Hon State Treasurer Shri Rodney D’Souza presented the Annual Statement of Accounts and Annual Balance Sheet. The Budget was also approved on the occasion.
STC(G) Smt. Elizibeth Mascarenhas, SOC(G) Smt. Vidhya Shetkar, STC(S) Shri Diogo Fernandes, ASTC(S) Shri Yeshwant Sinari, PRO Shri John Aguiar and others were present on the occasion.

SCOUTS AND GUIDES MOVEMENT IS A NURSERY OF SHAPING FUTURE CITIZENS: SHRI G. K. PAI

Pai, IIS,  Joint Director (M&C) of  Press Information Bureau, Goa and Joint Director, In-charge Doordarshan News, Goa was the Chief Guest at the awards distribution ceremony organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State at Institute Menezes Braganza hall in Panjim on April 13, 2013. State Chief Commisioner Shri P. R. Nadkarni is also seen.


 The Scouts & Guide activities play a vital role in moulding and developing the entire person such as  mind and heart, body and soul of the students . It is a nursery of future citizen playing a creditable role in shaping the character of our students by developing the values of patriotism, discipline and hard work through its wide range of activities said Shri Gurunath K. Pai, IIS,  Joint Director (M&C) of  Press Information Bureau, Goa and Joint Director, In-charge Doordarshan News, Goa.

Speaking further Shri Pai  highlighted the role of a Scoutmasters and Guidecaptains as both significant and valuable. As it has far-reaching influence on the society he or she lives in and no other personality can have an influence more profound than that of a teacher. Students are deeply affected by the teacher's love and affection, his character, his competence, and his moral commitment. A popular teacher becomes a model for his students. The students try to follow their teacher in his manners, costumes, etiquette, style of conversation and his get up. He is their ideal. He said  it is imperative to involve the role of parents, too, in the process of character building of the students.

The awards presented on the occasion comprised of Bob-a-Job Highest Earnings Awards for Scouts and Guides for highest earnings at the district and state level. Long service Awards for Scoutmasters and Guide-captains who have put in more than 10 years of dedicated service in the movement were presented to Ponda District: Shri Prakash Naik Scoutmaster of Kamaxi High School,  Guidecaptain Smt. Smita Sanjay Bandodkar of A. J. da Almeida High School, Ponda. Quepem Sanguem District: Scoutmaster Shri Ekanth Naik of Sarvodaya High School and Guide-captain Smt. Bharati Masurkar of Union High School,  Salcete District: Guide-captain Smt. Nina Coutinho of  Fatima Convent High School Margao . Pernem District:  Guide Captain Smt. Jennifer D’Souza.of  Don Bosco High School  Outstanding Units Award for the schools were presented to 15 schools. In awards to District category, the Bardez district bagged the first place, Pernem the second place while  Salcete & Quepem/Sanguem shared the third place .Scouts, Guides,Rovers ,Rangers who had taken part in the State Level Essay and Painting Competition were given prizes and certificates of appreciation.

The  Guides of Progress H. School , Panaji presented a Prayer dance -Ganesh Vandana and the Guides of The Rosary H. School, Miramar presented 'Lavani" dance on the occasion.

FLAG DAY ON NOVEMBER 7, 2012


Governor of Goa, Shri Bharat Vir Wanchoo  is being pinned  Bharat Scouts and Guides Flag  by Public Relations Officer of the Organization, Shri John Aguiar on the occasion of Flag Day at Raj Bhavan on November 7,  2012. The Governor made a contribution to the Annual Flag Day Fund and wished them all success in their mission. Also present were scouts and guides Kum Dhanashree Mandrekar, Miss Ashweta Chopdekar, Mast Rajdeep Naik of Hedgewar High School, Panjim and Miss. Twinkle Vengurlekar from People’s High School, Panjim. The main aim of the Flag Day is  to spread the message of scouts and guides amongst the youth and to motivate them to serve the humanity with missionary zeal and dedication and to motivate them to opt voluntary services.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Francisco D’Souza asserted that the worldwide movement of Scouts and Guides laid valuable foundations of commitment towards service to society in young boys and girls. Describing the movement founded by Lord Baden Powell in 1907 as a movement of selflessness, compassion and spirit of service to society, Shri  D’  Souza said there was no better place to start one’s life with mission as that of Scouts and Guides.
The  Deputy Chief Minister expressed this  views  during informal chat with the  State Chief Commissioner,  Shri P. R. Nadkarni, Public Relations Officer of the Organization, Shri John Aguiar, Scout Master Shri Tukaram Patil, Guide Captain Neeta and Scouts and Guides from Amonkar English School called on him  at his Mapusa residence to pin the Bharat Scouts and Guides Flag  on the occasion of Organization Flag day on November 7, 2012 .
