FLAG DAY ON NOVEMBER 7, 2012


Governor of Goa, Shri Bharat Vir Wanchoo  is being pinned  Bharat Scouts and Guides Flag  by Public Relations Officer of the Organization, Shri John Aguiar on the occasion of Flag Day at Raj Bhavan on November 7,  2012. The Governor made a contribution to the Annual Flag Day Fund and wished them all success in their mission. Also present were scouts and guides Kum Dhanashree Mandrekar, Miss Ashweta Chopdekar, Mast Rajdeep Naik of Hedgewar High School, Panjim and Miss. Twinkle Vengurlekar from People’s High School, Panjim. The main aim of the Flag Day is  to spread the message of scouts and guides amongst the youth and to motivate them to serve the humanity with missionary zeal and dedication and to motivate them to opt voluntary services.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Francisco D’Souza asserted that the worldwide movement of Scouts and Guides laid valuable foundations of commitment towards service to society in young boys and girls. Describing the movement founded by Lord Baden Powell in 1907 as a movement of selflessness, compassion and spirit of service to society, Shri  D’  Souza said there was no better place to start one’s life with mission as that of Scouts and Guides.
The  Deputy Chief Minister expressed this  views  during informal chat with the  State Chief Commissioner,  Shri P. R. Nadkarni, Public Relations Officer of the Organization, Shri John Aguiar, Scout Master Shri Tukaram Patil, Guide Captain Neeta and Scouts and Guides from Amonkar English School called on him  at his Mapusa residence to pin the Bharat Scouts and Guides Flag  on the occasion of Organization Flag day on November 7, 2012 .

Revenue Minister Shri Francisco D’Souza who is also the President of Bharat Scouts and Guides-Goa State  has said that discipline is the key-note of all success. The foremost duty of the schools and teachers therefore he said is to teach discipline to their students.
Shri D’ Souza was speaking at the annual State Council Meeting of the Bharat Scouts and Guides- Goa State was held at the Association headquarters in Panjim on September  25, 2012 .
Speaking about traffic discipline Shri D’Souza said nearly everyone seems to break signals, and transgress basic traffic rules, resulting in daily tragedies. The police and courts alone can’t resolve this, citizens need to do their bit too. The organizations like Bharat Scouts and Guides therefore should spread awareness on such important issues.
He said, If we want to make India great, we must be disciplined. A disciplined life makes us healthy and happy.

During the meeting various issues were discussed which included the resolutions earlier taken at the State Council Meeting, the action taken report, a power point presentation highlighting the activities, workshops, events and achievements of the members during the year past year was presented by State Secretary Shri James Fernandes. The consideration and adoption of Budget proposal were also discussed. Other discussions included development of the camp site etc:-
Speaking on the Occasion Vice President Dr. Rodney D’ Souza said that  scout and a girl guide is being taught to be disciplined in all aspects. Vice President Shri R. G. Dessai also spoke  on the occasion.
Awards for Highest Average increase percentage census were presented to the Bicholim district followed by Ponda district.
State Chief commissioner Shri Pandurang Nadkarni and SC(S) Adv. Vinayak Narvekar made some valuable suggestions on the occasion.
State Secretary Shri James Fernandes welcomed the gathering and conducted the business. Hon State Treasurer Shri Rodney D’Souza presented the Annual Statement of Accounts and Annual Balance Sheet. The Budget was also approved on the occasion.

Shri Francisco D’ Souza, Revenue Minister and President of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State has urged the officer bearers of the  Association to build up effective leaders of tomorrow through he movement. Give the young scouts and guides a cause to work. He also assured that he will work for further strengthening and streamlining of this global movement in the State  with dedication and devotion.
Shri D’ Souza was speaking at the Meeting with the Vice Presidents, State Chief Commissioner and other office bearers of the Bharat Scouts and Guides  Goa State when they called on his at his Secretariat office  On August 31, 2012.
Saying that Scouting forges a spirit of camaraderie among the Children Shri D’Souza urged youngsters to supplement the efforts of building a peaceful and harmonious society wherein everybody lives with peace, dignity and honour.  He also asked the Scouts and Guides to extend their help to the needy as and when required which in turn fructify in creating a lasting bonding between the people.  He reminded the Scoutmasters and Guide-captains to inculcate in young  Scouts and Guides about their duties towards the society and said that they have to work to eschew the tendencies of hatred and intolerance which are not in consonance with the high traditions of Indian ethos. “The students have the ability and vibrancy to give new colours to the social, political and economic profile of the society so must be nurtured in a right perspective,” he maintained.
Matters regarding the Campsite development, Log Book, Free Uniform, Office space, In-service Training upto Wood Bage  for Scoutmasters and Guide-captains by Education Department and other issues were discussed. State Secretary  Shri James Fernandes explained the position of the Movement in the State of Goa. State Chief Commissioner  Shri P. R. Nadkarni, Vice Presidents Dr. Sidney Pinto da Rosario, Shri R.G. Secretary (Ports and Fisheries) Shri V. P. Rao has urged the scouts and Guides of Goa be disciplined and be part of this great  movement so that we can combine our efforts in building a better Goa in which each citizen would be able to play a constructive role in society. The Scout and Guide Law he said include trustworthiness, loyalty, courteousness, thriftiness and purity in thought, word and deed. These are virtues which are very relevant in today’s world.
Shri Rao was speaking at the velidictory function of the  three day Patrol Leaders Camp  organized by the Scouts and Guides, Tiswadi Distirct at Bal Bharati Vidhya Mandir, Ribandar on August 25, 2012.
Speaking further he said that the Scout Law and Promise embody the joint values of the Scouting movement worldwide, and bind all Scouting associations together. The emphasis on “learning by doing” provides experiences of learning. Small groups build unity, camaraderie, and a close-knit fraternal atmosphere. These experiences, along with an emphasis on trustworthiness and personal honor develop responsibility, character, reliability and readiness which eventually build up leadership qualities.
Shri Rao who was himself Vice Chairman of the Bharat Scouts and Guides New Delhi also interracted with the Scouts and Guides who shared with their experiences of the camp.
As many as 200  Partol Leaders from 15 Schools with 25 teachers of Tiswadi participated in the training camp.
The Vice President of the the Tiswadi Scouts and Guides Sr. Clarina Gonsalves  Headmistress of  St Tereza’s High School St. Estevam called upon students to imbibe leadership skills and come up in life. She also taught a action song to the students.

While introducing the Chief Guest The Distinct Chief Commissioner Shri  John Aguiar  also congratulated all the teachers for  making  the camp a success. He also appreciated the students for their good behavior throughout the camp and for their concern for the issues affecting our state, Country and the world which they had depicted in their skits during the camp fire.

During the three day camp The EMRI 108 ambulance service conducted a very interesting session on first aid to the Students, followed by First Aid, Babdages and Emergency Rescue methods by the Instructors of Home Guards Organisation, Panaji, The Fire and Emergency  Department conducted a session on Fire Fighting and District Chief Commissioner Shri John Aguiar conducted session on Air Rifle Shooting 10 meters for Scouts and Guides and Scoutmasters and Guidecaptains apart from lashing, Knots and other syllabus prescribed for the Scouting and Guiding subject.

SCOUTS, GUIDES MOVEMENT LAYS VALUBALE COMMITTEMENT TOWARDS SERVICE TO SOCIETY: DR MESQUITA



Dr. Wilfred Misqueita, Commissioner for NRI Affairs has said that the worldwide movement of Scouts and Guides has laid valuable foundations of commitment towards service to society in young boys and girls. The movement founded by Lord Baden Powell in 1907 as a movement of selflessness, compassion and spirit of service to society. H e said there was no better place to start one’s life with mission as that of Scouts and Guides.

Dr. Mesquita was speaking as the Chief Guest after he inaugurated the three day  three day Patrol Leaders Camp for Tiswadi  District at the Bal Bharati Vidhya Mandir at Ribandar  on August 23, 2012.

The function began with the prayer song followed by flag ceremony and at the flag song.

Speaking further Dr. Mesquita said that the youth of  the country will be the architects of the future of India. As the next generation, they will be shouldering the responsibility of creating a more dynamic society, a stronger nation and a better world. To become good citizens, they  would have to acquire good education, deep understanding of issues and inculcate good values.

The NRI Commissioner said advised the Scouts and Guides that if every day they do something to increase their knowledge, to learn a good habit and indeed, do a good deed, they would have taken one step forward towards a better future. He reminded them that life is full of varied experiences - joy during happy events, pride in having achieved a target or a sense of disappointment when results fall short of expectations. There will also be challenging moments. There will be times when victory will be elusive. Lack of success does not mean that we give up. It only means that we have to work harder, and that we have to persevere till our objective is achieved.


Whatever  young scouts and guides learn  as part of the movement would prove very useful throughout their lives, the Commissioner  said they would eventually be in a position to appreciate the need of the people and society.Dr. Mesquita hoped that young members of Bharat Scouts and Guides Goa State  would not only take the movement forward but also rise up to the expectations of the people of Goa as well as of the country. He expressed pride that Scouts and Guides Movement in  the state’s was performing well and growing from strength to strength.

          Shri John Aguiar stressed on the discipline aspect and said that it was essential to shape the life of the child. Shri Durgadas Gaonkar, Secretary of Tiswadi District  gave detailed outline about the camp.

          200 Patrol Leaders from 15 schools with 25 teachers of Tiswadi are participating in the training camp.

TISWADI SCOUTS AND GUIDES OBSERVE HIROSHIMA DAY



Underscoring the need to wage a relentless war against war  the 67th anniversary of the world's first nuclear bomb attack on Hiroshima in Japan was observed under the aegis of the  Bharat Scouts and Guides Association, Tiswadi District here at Azad Maidan on  August 6, 2012.
A candle light homage to those who had lost their lives in various wars marked the occasion.

The office bearers of the  gathered at Azad maidan and lighted candles in memory of those perished during the attack.
Amidst the eerie silence in the hall, members of the association and others who attended the vigil.
Addressing the gathering, District Chief Commissioner Shri John Aguiar said that The bombing had killed lakhs of people and colossal loss of property. It took several decades for the survivors to come out of the after-effects of the bombing. A memorial meet was organised at Hiroshima in 2010 to pay tributes to those who lost their lives in the bombing. 
Speaking at the observation, the ATD Commissioner Shri Tukaram Kholkar paid solidarity to the sufferings of the Hiroshima and Nagasakhi and said several wars have been fought, but the suffering of Japan has not been felt anywhere else.

District Secretary Shri Durgadas Gaonkar said that only through a worldwide effort to live in peace can an end be put to war.Jt. Secretary of  the District Smt. Shoba Mhadgut said that by killing each other mankind was heading for self destruction. Asstt. State Commissioner Shri Krishnath Chopdekar said that the live and let live policy should be adopted.

Asstt. District Commissioner Shri Dilesh Gadekar welcomed while the District Training Commissioner(Guides) Smt. Ankita Fadte  proposed a vote of thanks.

D'SOUZA INSTALLED AS PRESIDENT OF BS&G GOA STATE

CAPTION: Revenue Minister Shri Francisco D’Souza who was recently elected unopposed as the President of Bharat Scouts and Guides Goa State was installed as the President after he was presented the Presidents scarf by State Organising Commissioner Shri Krishnanath Chopdekar and PRO of the Association Shri John Aguiar at the Minister’s residence at Mapusa on May 18, 2012.
Revenue Minister Shri Francisco D’Souza who was recently elected unopposed as the President of Bharat Scouts and Guides Goa State for the year 2012-2015 was installed as President of the association by presenting the scarf of the Association by State Organising Commissioner Shri Krishnanath Chopdekar and PRO of the Association Shri John Aguiar at the Minister’s residence at Mapusa on May 20, 2012. The Special State Council meeting held on April 30, 2012 had also elected unopposed six vice Presidents namely Dr. Sidney Pinto do Rosario, Shri Gopal Bhau Parap, Shri Raguvir Dessai, Shri Tomazinho Cardozo , Dr. Minacshi Martins and Smt. Sylvia D’Souza. Shri Pandurang R. Nadkarni was unanimously elected as State Chief Commissioner. Terming his association with the organization as privilege, Shri D’Souza said the greatness of the scouting movement was strengthened by the fact that it was spread throughout the world bringing under its control several millions of young persons. Discipline is basic insignia of our lives, says Francisco D’ Souza

Discipline is the basic and important insignia of our life. Discipline directs the success of an individual in any sphere of life, said Mr Francisco D’Souza, Minister for Revenue and Urban Development. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the awards distribution ceremony organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State on April 13, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church Hall, Panaji. He advised the students not to give up learning and keep on learning as learning he said is a continuous process and it should continue till our death. He advised the scouts and guides to achieve greater heights in this competitive world. The awards presented on the occasion comprised Bob-a-Job Awards for scouts and guides for highest earnings at the district and state level. Long service Awards for scoutmasters and guide-captains who have put in more than 10 years of dedicated service in the movement. Late Baba Sukthankar Award for Best Scouter was awarded to Scout Master Agnelo Rodrigues of St Micheal’s Convent High School, Anjuna, Vagator. Certificates were presented to Shri Dilesh Gadekar of Tiswadi District and Shri Seby Pereira and Shri Viraj Shirodkar. Outstanding Units Award for the schools which conducted activities in school and participated at the district, state, regional and national level was presented to St. Micheal Convent HS, Vagator, St. Thresa’s High School , Candolim, G.S. BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES APPEAL FOR 100 PERCENT VOTING

It was a wonderful opportunity for Bharat Scouts and Guides of Goa who took the message of Election Commission of India to Goan electorate urging them to come out and exercise their voting rights at the March 3, 2012 General Election for Goa Legislative Assembly.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State, Tiswadi - celebrated “Thinking Day” on February 28, 2012 together with the Office of Chief Electoral Officer-Goa and the Department of Information & Publicity with a fervent call to the people of Goa to come out and exercise their voting right thus making it 100 percent polling in Goa.

State Organizing Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides – Goa State, Shri Krishnanath Chopdekar, Joint Secretary of the Association and Headmistress, progress High School, Smt. Shoba Malghut, Tiswadi Secretary , Shri Durgadas Gaonkar, PRO of Bharat Scouts and Guides Association, Shri John Aguiar, Shri Anand Jadhav of CEO’s office and others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Menino Peres explained the importance and the need to come out and vote. He said it is the right of every citizen of the country and we have to exercise it without fear of favour.

Dr. Durgaprasad, said that The rally was held in collaboration with the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State in Order to sensitize the public regarding voter’s awareness, ethical voting, and participation in election process.

The Thinking day is considered a special day, as well as an opportunity to learn more about Lord Baden Powells life and his work. His Writings remain inspiring to many and incredibly on phase with our times.

The World Thinking Day theme for 2012 is Millennium Development Goal: “we can save our planet” and the aim is to raise awareness of the environment. The scouts and Guides carried placards and gave slogans such as “Hame har bund pani zarori hota hai vaise hare ek vote zarori hota hai”, “Don’t Waste Water and also Don’t waste your VOTE”. “Use renewable energy, Save your energy to cast your vote”. “Water is precious save it, your vote is precious Cast it.” “Say No to plastic, Say yes to VOTE and no to NOTE” thus conveying a strong message to the people to vote at the elections. Around 500 Scouts and Guides from 16 schools of Tiswadi attended the event.
