TISWADI SCOUTS AND GUIDES OBSERVE HIROSHIMA DAY



Underscoring the need to wage a relentless war against war  the 67th anniversary of the world's first nuclear bomb attack on Hiroshima in Japan was observed under the aegis of the  Bharat Scouts and Guides Association, Tiswadi District here at Azad Maidan on  August 6, 2012.
A candle light homage to those who had lost their lives in various wars marked the occasion.

The office bearers of the  gathered at Azad maidan and lighted candles in memory of those perished during the attack.
Amidst the eerie silence in the hall, members of the association and others who attended the vigil.
Addressing the gathering, District Chief Commissioner Shri John Aguiar said that The bombing had killed lakhs of people and colossal loss of property. It took several decades for the survivors to come out of the after-effects of the bombing. A memorial meet was organised at Hiroshima in 2010 to pay tributes to those who lost their lives in the bombing. 
Speaking at the observation, the ATD Commissioner Shri Tukaram Kholkar paid solidarity to the sufferings of the Hiroshima and Nagasakhi and said several wars have been fought, but the suffering of Japan has not been felt anywhere else.

District Secretary Shri Durgadas Gaonkar said that only through a worldwide effort to live in peace can an end be put to war.Jt. Secretary of  the District Smt. Shoba Mhadgut said that by killing each other mankind was heading for self destruction. Asstt. State Commissioner Shri Krishnath Chopdekar said that the live and let live policy should be adopted.

Asstt. District Commissioner Shri Dilesh Gadekar welcomed while the District Training Commissioner(Guides) Smt. Ankita Fadte  proposed a vote of thanks.

D'SOUZA INSTALLED AS PRESIDENT OF BS&G GOA STATE

CAPTION: Revenue Minister Shri Francisco D’Souza who was recently elected unopposed as the President of Bharat Scouts and Guides Goa State was installed as the President after he was presented the Presidents scarf by State Organising Commissioner Shri Krishnanath Chopdekar and PRO of the Association Shri John Aguiar at the Minister’s residence at Mapusa on May 18, 2012.
Revenue Minister Shri Francisco D’Souza who was recently elected unopposed as the President of Bharat Scouts and Guides Goa State for the year 2012-2015 was installed as President of the association by presenting the scarf of the Association by State Organising Commissioner Shri Krishnanath Chopdekar and PRO of the Association Shri John Aguiar at the Minister’s residence at Mapusa on May 20, 2012. The Special State Council meeting held on April 30, 2012 had also elected unopposed six vice Presidents namely Dr. Sidney Pinto do Rosario, Shri Gopal Bhau Parap, Shri Raguvir Dessai, Shri Tomazinho Cardozo , Dr. Minacshi Martins and Smt. Sylvia D’Souza. Shri Pandurang R. Nadkarni was unanimously elected as State Chief Commissioner. Terming his association with the organization as privilege, Shri D’Souza said the greatness of the scouting movement was strengthened by the fact that it was spread throughout the world bringing under its control several millions of young persons. Discipline is basic insignia of our lives, says Francisco D’ Souza

Discipline is the basic and important insignia of our life. Discipline directs the success of an individual in any sphere of life, said Mr Francisco D’Souza, Minister for Revenue and Urban Development. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the awards distribution ceremony organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State on April 13, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church Hall, Panaji. He advised the students not to give up learning and keep on learning as learning he said is a continuous process and it should continue till our death. He advised the scouts and guides to achieve greater heights in this competitive world. The awards presented on the occasion comprised Bob-a-Job Awards for scouts and guides for highest earnings at the district and state level. Long service Awards for scoutmasters and guide-captains who have put in more than 10 years of dedicated service in the movement. Late Baba Sukthankar Award for Best Scouter was awarded to Scout Master Agnelo Rodrigues of St Micheal’s Convent High School, Anjuna, Vagator. Certificates were presented to Shri Dilesh Gadekar of Tiswadi District and Shri Seby Pereira and Shri Viraj Shirodkar. Outstanding Units Award for the schools which conducted activities in school and participated at the district, state, regional and national level was presented to St. Micheal Convent HS, Vagator, St. Thresa’s High School , Candolim, G.S. Amonkar Vidhyamandir, Mapusa, St. Thomas Girl’s HS Aldona, Mahalaxmi HS Kudne, Bicholim, Our lady of Grace HS Bicholim, Dayanand HS School Chorao, Bal Bharati Vidhya Mandir, Ribandar, Murmugoa HS Sada, Keshav Smruti HS Dabolim, Busy Bee HS Desterro, Vasco, navy Cghildrens school, Vasco, Infant Jesus Academy Murmagao, Matoshree Anandibai Vaman Marathe Vidhya Mandir, Dharbandora, St Rita HS maina Curtorim, St. Mary of the Angels Convent HS Chinchinim, Adarsh V.V. BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES APPEAL FOR 100 PERCENT VOTING

It was a wonderful opportunity for Bharat Scouts and Guides of Goa who took the message of Election Commission of India to Goan electorate urging them to come out and exercise their voting rights at the March 3, 2012 General Election for Goa Legislative Assembly.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State, Tiswadi - celebrated “Thinking Day” on February 28, 2012 together with the Office of Chief Electoral Officer-Goa and the Department of Information & Publicity with a fervent call to the people of Goa to come out and exercise their voting right thus making it 100 percent polling in Goa.

Shri Menino Peres, Director, Department of Information & Publicity along with Nodal Officer, SVEEP, CEO’s office, Dr.Durgaprasad and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Shri Arvind Budge flagged off the rally. State Organizing Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides – Goa State, Shri Krishnanath Chopdekar, Joint Secretary of the Association and Headmistress, progress High School, Smt. Shoba Malghut, Tiswadi Secretary , Shri Durgadas Gaonkar, PRO of Bharat Scouts and Guides Association, Shri John Aguiar, Shri Anand Jadhav of CEO’s office and others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Menino Peres explained the importance and the need to come out and vote. He said it is the right of every citizen of the country and we have to exercise it without fear of favour.

Dr. Durgaprasad, said that The rally was held in collaboration with the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Goa State in Order to sensitize the public regarding voter’s awareness, ethical voting, and participation in election process.

The Thinking day is considered a special day, as well as an opportunity to learn more about Lord Baden Powells life and his work. His Writings remain inspiring to many and incredibly on phase with our times.

The World Thinking Day theme for 2012 is Millennium Development Goal: “we can save our planet” and the aim is to raise awareness of the environment. The scouts and Guides carried placards and gave slogans such as “Hame har bund pani zarori hota hai vaise hare ek vote zarori hota hai”, “Don’t Waste Water and also Don’t waste your VOTE”. “Use renewable energy, Save your energy to cast your vote”. “Water is precious save it, your vote is precious Cast it.” “Say No to plastic, Say yes to VOTE and no to NOTE” thus conveying a strong message to the people to vote at the elections. Around 500 Scouts and Guides from 16 schools of Tiswadi attended the event.

BE “EYES AND EARS” OF THE POLICE: DR ARYA TELL SCOUTS AND GUIDES

Director General of Police Dr. Aditya Arya, IPS said has asked the Bharat Scouts and Guides of Goa State to be the eyes and ears of the Police and fight against crime.

Dr. Arya was speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion of a rally of girl guides and boys scouts all over the state to mark 100 years of Guiding 2011 Centenary celebrations organized by Bharat Scouts and Guides Goa State at Azad Maidan in Panjim on Decembeer 14, 2011.

The DGP Dr. Arya earlier flagged off a rally of scouts and guides which went around the streets of Panjim and culminated back at Azad Maidan.

Dr Arya said he has a long association with the Scouts and Guides movement and has been interacting with scouts and guides at Jamboree’s and camps. He said he had motivated the boy scouts and guides to work in close coordination with the Delhi police and curbing crimes in the society.

Speaking about educating the girl child he said, education for a girl child means making the next generation well educated, full of virtues, free from the useless superstitions, confident and capable to do something good for the family, for the society and for the country as a whole.

Senior Vice President of Bharat Scouts and Guides Association Dr. Sydney Pinto Da Rosario presided over the function. he presented a memento to Dr. Arya as token of appreciation.

State Commissioner Adv. Vinayak Narvekar welcomed, State Secretary Shri James Fernandes said that Dr. Arya was a upright officer and Goa is lucky to have him as the DGP. He later introduced Dr. Arya to the audience.

The Girl Guides earlier presented a guard of honour to Dr Arya.

A colourful variety entertainment programme was also presented by the Scouts and Guides on the occasion.

Smt. Elizabeth Mascarenhas, STC (Guides) explained the significance of the day. Mrs. Swati Malik. CM GREETS SCOUTS AND GUIDES ON THE OCCASION OF “FOUNDER’S DAY”




Chief Minister Shri Digambar Kamat is being pinned the “founder day” flag by Shri John Aguiar, the Headquarters Commissioner (PR) of the Bharat Scouts and Guides organization -Goa State on the occasion of Bharat Scouts and Guides flag day at the Chief Minister’s residence at Margao on November 7, 2011. Also present are Shri Mario Pereira DCC, Shri Francis Rebello, District Training Commissioner, Ms. Tisha Pereira Guide Captain, Mast. Adriana Braganza, Mast. Bloid Dias, Mast. Shubam Saroj, (Scouts), Ms. Pratima Pandit and Priya Saroj (Guides) all of Basilite Open Unit, Majorda.

A delegation of Bharat Scouts and Guides-Goa State called on Chief Minister Shri Digambar Kamatat his residence at Margao on November 7, 2011 and pinned the Scouts and Guides “flag” to commemorate flag day which is celebrated all over the country.

During the informal meeting with the delegation the Chief Minister evinced keen interest in the Scouts and Guides and the training that it imparts to the young children. He greeted the Scouts and Guides of Goa on the occasion.

The delegation consisted of Shri John Aguiar Headquarters PRO of the Association, Shri Mario Pereira Dist. Chief Commissioner, Shri Francis Rebello, District Training Commissioner, Ms. Tisha Pereira, Guide Captain, Mast. Adriana Braganza, Mast. Bloid Dias, Mast. Shubam Saroj, (Scouts), Ms. Pratima Pandit and Priya Saroj (Guides) all of Basilite Open Unit, Majorda.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides was formed on November 7, 1950 after merging different Scout Organization and the Girl Guide Associations which were earlier working separately. Thus November 7, is a memorable day in the history of Scouting and Guiding Movement in India and the day is celebrated as the “Flag Day”.
